Who we are

History

In 1978, at the request of mechanical workshops, to sharpen cutting tools, my father, Manfred Romang, bought a small Hoffmann brand sharpener.

In 1981, following the increase in demand, it was decided to acquire a more efficient machine, the first machine CNC, HARO Polytronic NC 400.

The acquisition of the latter attracted a new and more demanding clientele, as well as the opening of a new segment: the sharpening of gear tools (hob cutter, knife, spindle) and forced us to invest.

In 1989, a sharpening machine was put into operation: HARO Polytronic CNC 450.

In 1990 the company changed its name: ROMANG&FILS.

To ensure continuity, two new sharpening units were added, in 1998 and 2002, following the demand for the production of instruments in the medical sector, as well as the increase in the sharpening capacity of hobs.

On 27 August 2005, the flooding of Lake Biel caused us irreparable damage.

After this huge loss, in order to rebuild us, it was decided to acquire a new sharpening machine: HARO Polytronic CNC 1000 in 2006.

To compensate for the losses, I accepted assignments as an assembler at a renowned gear cutting machine factory.

In 2012 we established a limited liability company: 123HOBIT Sarl, in Ticino, CH, respectively in Quartino.

The activities cover: support and consultancy for the optimization of gear production, choice of machine purchase, machine overhaul, rapid intervention in case of machine failure, hob sharpening, gear knife, flat, round spindle.
